THE LOOKS
Model; Miku of An Cafe
Hair; Over time, Emmett's hair has been a whole spectrum of colors. However, most of the time these days, the boy keeps it an odd strawberry-blonde color. For a boy's hairstyle, it's also fairly long, and he takes a lot of time trying to make it look the way it does.
Body Style; Standing at 158 cms, and weighing only 90 pounds-- whether or not Emmy has that small bit of muscles in his arms-- the boy can only be described as small.
Usual Clothing; Fashion, at it's most unusual, is very important to the youngest Takahashi. As a general rule, the boy's outfits are even more than over-the-top. Skirts worn over baggy pants, boots, mismatched patterns (specifically, plaid), and accessory overload are a few of his favorites. Somehow, he manages to make all of these work-- although, on occasion, he can also dress up accordingly.
Distinguishing Features; The most noticeable things about Emmy are his hair and multitude of piercings-- he has three lip piercings, as well as several in each ear. And then, of course, there's the common look of surprise on the boy's face. (O.O)
THE PERSON INSIDE
History;
Born into a family that was already predestined to be too full of testosterone-- what with having three brothers and all-- it shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone how Emmett's life turned out.
When they were all young, the Takashi family's lives were going fairly well. All of the boys were smart-- sometimes too smart for their own good, but smart nonetheless-- and, though their father traveled a lot for his job, Maria had plenty of help, thanks to the household assistance paid for by Samuel's stock broking. All along, Emmett felt as though his parents would forget about him and Nick-- leaving them to be strong for each other in the times they needed to, but really, Emmett himself never minded the neglect much. Nevertheless, Vincent was the first to be sent to the private school, not too far away from their home of Fargo, North Dakota, that all of the brothers would end up going to, at the age of twelve.
Vinny, though, was also the first of the family to go full-blown crazy. When he was thirteen, the boy was sentenced to life in jail for murder-- worse than murder, really, seeing as he had buried the girl alive. The family seemed unmoved on the surface, though, with Mike still the favorite and Nick and Emmy still... not. Life moved on, and it wasn't until Nick was thirteen that things got out of hand again.
Not that it was easy for the rest of the family to forget Nick. It was easiest, in that family, to just pretend like Emmett's favorite brother had never existed, instead of acknowledging the fact that he was suddenly dating a sixteen year old boy and doing God knows what in that relationship. Emmy, though, was ten, and very confused as to a) what was wrong with that relationship, and b) why he had suddenly lost the person he had depended on most in his life.
Except... well, again, life went on for a while. The next maelstrom didn't come for, again, another three years-- the year that Andy, Nick's boyfriend, was hit by a car, and the year that Nick tried to kill himself, and ended up in a Mental Hospital. The year that Emmy finally figured out a good way to stay on top of the sudden influx of homework, at the same time as forgetting about all of his brothers at once. It all boiled down to one thing: drugs.
For two years, Emmett worked his life around them. All of his friends came through them, along with all of his lovers, and all of his enemies. Anything you wanted, he had, and it didn't take too much negotiation to get it out of him. On the surface, though, Emmett Takahashi was the same as always-- hardworking in school, somewhat asinine about it, even. But underneath, the boy had become something of a mess, self-medicating, but not to the degree that he quite needed.
Then, all at once, it came to a stop. The youngest Takahashi was set up by a "friend," arrested for dealing, and would've and should've gone to jail. Instead, though, the father that hadn't done a single good thing for his son's life explained that they were moving to Japan, regardless, and that he would be kept a close eye on there. What a way to find out, really, in a holding cell.
So, that was what happened. The three members left of the somewhat broken family-- Vinny was still in jail, Mike was going to college, and Nick had met someone, in rehab, of all places, that he moved in with. Emmett has completely different plans for himself than his father did, but they all start with the same beginning-- for the millionth time in his life, Emmett is on his own.
Personality;
Emmett is absolutely a one-of-a-kind kid. That’s what you get when you leave a boy to his own devices. That’s what Emmett’s parents did, anyway, otherwise occupied with Mike’s perfection, Vinny’s trials, and, of course, the ever-dramatic life of a certain Nick.
There are more than a couple traits that developed, presumably, from his parents’ general ignorance. Obviously, he wouldn’t have gotten into any of the things that he did- sex, drugs, rock and roll… Well, really, the independence that Emmett ended up being granted let him get away with a lot of crap. The same independence meant that Emmett became a tougher person then he needed to be, focused on taking care of himself- not getting caught up in the drama, not trusting anyone in particular, not ending up with romance or friendship- even when Emmett seems surrounded by ‘friends,’ in truth, the boy is a loner to the most accurate definition of the word. He’s mellow, but also hard, all-business- except maybe towards those who’ve earned his friendliness, or could end up making for a fun night. At least, this is the person that Emmy lets other people see.
But, there is a different side to the boy. Maybe people could catch that in the way that, despite everything, Emmett would still do anything for those who he's left behind, not quite letting loyalty go. Of all the things to be afraid of, Emmy really only has one- de facto commitment. The way he sees it, people are constantly changing, and who could ever stop that for another person? It’s an inevitable occurrence. Being let down isn’t on the top of anyone’s list of things to do, nor is letting other people down. And with the way that Emmy chose to live, he couldn’t ask anyone to depend on him for long. Especially not with off-kilter addictions of the moment- first it was ecstasy, now it’s calmed down to Ritalin- and the ever growing possibility of getting caught. Lonely- but safe- seemed the best way to go.
